Be a life saver be a blood donor !

Blood is the most important for survival. Adult person has 5 liters of blood in his body out of this only 2/3rd is in circulation. Only 350ccs are collected of remaining 1/3rd at the time of blood donation.
Any male or female can donate blood if following criteria are fulfilled:
1) Age above 18
2) Weight more than 50 kg
3) Hemoglobin. <12.5
4) No history of malaria or jaundice in last 6 months
5) No history of typhoid in last 3 years
6) No history of HIV/AIDS or any other sexually transmitted disease
7) No history of diabetes or blood pressure
8) Person should not be on any medication
9) Should not have menses or pregnancy at the time of blood donation.

Shelf life of blood is 35 days.
Any person can donate blood once in 3 months
There are no side effects of blood donation. Donated blood is regenerated in 3 days. In India 55 lacs of bottles are required every year
of these only 2/3Rd bottle are donated by voluntary donors.
Indications for blood transfusion
1)      Severe anemia hb, 7gms%
2)      Major operations: Cancer, Heart
3)      During delivery some times
4)      Major accidents

Plasmapheresis is a method in which platelets are separated from blood & remaining blood is retransfusion to donor. This can be done once in 3 days.
